Leave Only Footprints; Take Only Pictures

Long time commenter of this site Draccos¹ and I were chatting on Vent yesterday afternoon. We were discussing our respective screenshot directories and how many awesome pictures we’ve collected over the years. Both he and I have had computer issues in the past that resulted in losing a number of screenshots, which is rather disappointing. However, the ones that we have retained are still extremely memorable.

Draccos commented about how awesome my screenshots are at times. Now while I could further wrench my shoulder by patting myself on the back², I figured that I would take my friend’s advice and create a post that highlights some of my favorite screenshots. As I noted previously, I don’t have a number of images any more; my old computer exploded some years in the past thanks to some faulty wiring and a huge power surge. However, the ones that I have left are no less memorable for their absence.

Images were selected entirely by their appearance. I tried to avoid selecting images that had emotional attachment behind them. And, as you may notice, the vast majority of them feature either my kal’dorei huntress or my perky priestess; they are by far my favorite two characters and the ones that I have spent the most time with in-game. So, it is favortism but definitely not intentional favortism.³

As you may recall, I’ve been having problems with my right shoulder for a number of months now. Packing boxes and moving furniture probably hasn’t helped! ↩

Awlbiste: That is probably one of my favorite screenshots of Esz ever. It really shows the kal’dorei as the independent and ferocious huntress that I imagine her as. A lot of people on my server roleplay kal’dorei as flighty, pointy-eared bouncy pixies, as opposed to the aloof, exotic, ferocious creatures that they are. It annoyed me, which is probably why I finally rolled Eszti and then roleplay her the way that she is.

I remember seeing a quick sketch once of a kal’dorei huntress done by Metzen (I think). It was just her shoulders up showing three-fourths of her face, but I remember that her hair was in disarray and there was blood liberally smeared across her face. I haven’t seen the image since it was removed from the nigh elf article at WoWWiki some years ago, but the impact of the image clearly stuck with me.

I love it, but it’s quite eerie. The elf bounce definitely detracts from the ability to be a merciless huntress (which is how I can easily imagine them, especially with personalities like Maiev around).
