Friday Five — The Important Things

It’s Friday and Anna of Too Many Annas has posted yet another roleplaying-styled Friday five.  This time she asks in “RP Friday Five - The Important Things“:

Your character has just received word that there’s a terrible storm coming directly at where he or she is currently living (on Azeroth - as far as I can tell, Outland is a different beast when it comes to weather).  This storm is expected to do a lot of damage, and potentially be deadly to the unprepared.  In that light, five questions about his or her response…

1 - Would your character leave or stay? Why or why not?

2 - Where would they go (if they were leaving), or take shelter (if they were staying)?

3 - How would they get there?

4 - If given 2 hours to pack, what would they bring with them of their current posessions?

5 - What would they leave behind?

Because I have all but ignored my kal’dorei huntress in recent weeks, I’d like to answer this for Eszti “Iron Legs” Nightwing.

1 - Would your character leave or stay? Why or why not?

Absolutely not.  Eszti Nightwing has spent the vast majority of her 526 years of life living in the wilderness of Ashenvale, often with extended periods of time without contact with other kal’dorei.  She’s long since grown accustomed to the harsh elements and often disregards them entirely.  And while a wild creature might consider the benefits of fleeing in light of Mother Nature’s wrath, Eszti is rather stubborn — to a fault! — and wouldn’t leave unless a damned good reason1 becomes apparent.

2 - Where would she take shelter?

Most likely she would take shelter in some sort of sensible place, whether it be in a cave or some sort of shelter using a fallen tree or even one made of thatch and grass.  Remember, Eszti not only has spent the vasy majority of her life in the wilderness, but persists in considering the ancient groves of Ashenvale to be her home.

3 - How would she get there?

On foot!  Eszti isn’t known as Iron Legs just because her legs would put even Tina Turner to shame!  Though she does possess a variety of mounts — including the lackadaisical and infinitely lazy saber Sheagran — she has always been much more confident relying on her own power to travel the world.  Not only is there far less impedment on foot, but she also prides herself on her physical prowess and strength.

4 - What would she bring with them of her current possessions?

Eszti isn’t burdened by many material possessions.  She’s not one for wearing armor, preferring to actually wear formfitting leathers that she stitched herself.  Her bow is a must, since it is her primary source of defense and most likely the acquisition of food.  And while the kal’dorei isn’t known to be sentimental, there is a piece of jewelry that Eszti received from a lover that she would most likely make an effort to keep with her.  While she has shown a reticence for magic in the past, Eszti would bring with her a dagger enchanted by a friend; despite the innate feeling of the blade due to the magic imbued it in, it has served hr purposes well in the past — and the kal’dorei is not one to be traveling without some sort of blade.2

5 - What would they leave behind?

Anything.  Everything.  Clothes.  Books.  What few personal effects that she may possess.  They have very little emotional attachement to Eszti and so little effort — or consideration — would be given to anything that wasn’t absolutely necessary for survival.

  1. That she understands, mind you!
  2. Except for in Moonglade, where she has felt little need to defend herself.

Brilliant! Loved it all.
I think I’ll do one for Draccos, maybe. He’s a bit more, heroic?, than Ms. Ironlegs.
