Further Incentive to Snag an Amani War Bear

While I should be posting a very late post for my Loremonger series this morning¹, I’d like to take the opportunity to instead expound further on the Amani War Bear and my efforts to acquire one.

Last Saturday’s efforts were an abysmal failure, though not due to any single person’s efforts — or lack thereof. Perhaps half of the raid died to Akil’zon, the Eagle Avatar. We experienced a rather messy near-wipe prior to engaging the Amani Bears on the way to Nalorakk, the Bear Avatar, that resulted in the demise of our Protection warrior. We then accidentally pulled those bears while fighting one the ramp leading up to the boss rather than avoiding them as we normally do each week, encountered more than our fair share of Amani’shi Scouts, lost some notable DPSers while fighting Jan’alai, the Dragonhawk Avatar, and just overall had a very messy attempt. As a result, we didn’t acquire another Amani War Bear, which puts our efforts further off schedule.

Fortunately, things look a little more hopeful this weekend. On Saturday we’ll be raiding with all-experienced players who have participated in previous bear mount attempts. Furthermore, of those ten raiders five have already received their mounts — giving me a 20% chance of getting my own. While I don’t trust my dice at all², I’m still looking forward to our efforts this weekend.

Brazingly borrowing information from Nasirah’s blog Alts Ahoy!, she posted information that made me giggle this morning in light of my efforts to acquire an Amani War Bear. In “Too Funny“, Nasirah quote’s a question from this week’s WowInsider column, Ask a Beta Tester. A gentleman by the name of Boke asked, “Has there been any mention of the item or items that are going to be replacing the Amani War Bear Mount in ZA?”

The oh-so-witty reply?

I do not believe it’s been mentioned what it is, and I definitely haven’t bothered with old content on the Wrath beta. No idea on this one, sorry. Maybe you’ll get a pile of Large Bear Bones. You took too long to get to it, it rotted away. How sad!

I’m still giggling! As if I really needed further incentive to snag an Amani War Bear. We must protect them from this horrible, horrible thing occurring. As a result, I will get one. Think of the bears!

i want my gnome mage to get bear mount, but i think the leaders will think she’s too undergear to race the timed events. the best we can do is 3 chests and we don’t get to do it all the time.

I hope you get one. I’d lend you my dice but I’m actually in the LF dumbass to buy my borked dice channel. If your want to sell yours, just type /join bunchofretardswithtotallyborkeddice channel and say hai. The people in the channel with prolly /roll to see who gets to say hello back.

Prettywow: That’s disappointing. I’ve been running on the perky priestess since June, while the hunter subs in occasionally on the runs. With two to three runs a week, I’ve got my fingers crossed.

Draccos: I don’t know about that, hon. You’ve got uncanny luck with gear and rolls. Remember all of those times that we ran you through instances and you got every piece you could have possibly used, even if it wasn’t for your main spec?
